Review – Autumndale The Series – Porcelain

This week East Coast Horror Group writer Adam Holtzapfel had a chance to check out Porcelain, the short film from Dean Ray based on his comic series The Strange Tales Of Autumndale.

Porcelain clocks in around 45 minutes and follows a unique tale based on the Strange Tales Of Autumndale series. The basis for the film feels like Riverdale meets the 2008 run of Vertigo’s House Of Mystery.

Viewers are first treated to Mr. Knotts reading a book titles How To Get People To Do Things Your Way. Soon a cage is brought in with the handler telling him he’s a sick man. From there we see Dollface who is plotting her revenge.

As the story continues viewers are introduced to Purple who is instructed by The Great Lilith to find a stone buried underneath Autumndale to give to the hurt girl that will be the saving grace of the town.

The production values are great, the fx worked well, and the sound quality is also up to par. The acting is hit and miss at times. While this felt long at time, it could be because it wasn’t my cup of tea, I think once it finds it’s audience there’s potential for a rabid fanbase.
