Week after week, Dr. Demento presented his version of the Top 40 (which locally were back to back) which he called the Funny Five.

I’ve established in the past my love of novelty records and the good Doctor is a big part of that for me. Growing up while “Weird” Al Yankovich was developing as an artist is probably the other part.

But one song kept hitting the Funny Five and I had no idea why. “T-Bone” would sing the song linked above and it went on for EIGHT MINUTES and I JUST DIDN’T GET IT.

As time has gone on, I find myself finally getting a giggle out of the song. I love the Wizard of Oz references and found myself using song lyrics from time to time pop up in my day to day interactions with perfectly normal human beings.
